According to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, about 830 women die everyday from complications while giving birth. With good healthcare an various effective ways to reduce maternal deaths in India, usually caused from excessive bleeding, countries such as Thailand and Turkey successfully brought death rates of mothers to below 0.02%. One of the multiple methods to decrease maternal death include a procedure that involves a water-filled condom attached to the tip of a syringe to be held against the uterus. The water-filled condom acts as a plug to stop continued bleeding, thus saving the lives of 97% of mothers prone to death during birth.
